Every March, we spend a few days in a condo on the beach on Okaloosa Island near Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Just a few days before we left Clear Lake, Larry received his newest addition to his kite collection. Here he is-- The Diver! His legs move realistically in the wind and make him look like he's swimming. He's a lot of fun to fly!

The Crown Bol is always an attention getter on the beach in Florida as it is anywhere we go. We had high winds and seas for the first several days we were there, but after that, we had wonderful kite flying weather!

We visited with Kathy at Kitty Hawk Kites and learned that they were to sponsor a kite festival the week after we were leaving. Next year, we'll have to plan a little better to try to be there during their festival. From the photos Mike Agner sent, it looks like a lot of fun!

Our pyro-deltas (the ghosts) were the first sizeable kites we bought. We have four-red, white, blue and yellow. They're a joy to fly and also to watch as they gracefully dance through the air.

Our 96' Manta-Ray is impressive due to its size, but the colors literally glowed in the Florida sun! In case you're wondering-- this kite has to be anchored in the sand by digging a hole, and using "sand anchors" to hold it.

Many people have asked what kind of gas we put in the inflatable kites. Answer: no gas, just the wind!

Here's Larry, just layin' back, watching his kites dance in the air!

While were in Florida, we watched the Iowa Hawkeyes win the Big Ten basketball tournament. The next day, Larry flew his Iowa Hawkeye flag under the Sutton 252 to celebrate. Unfortunately, it was a dark, gloomy day and the kites had to come down a/c rain.

Mike Agner sent this photo of the kite festival sponsored by Kitty Hawk Kites. Wow!

Our 46' long Gecko stands watch over the beach.

A lot of people on the beach enjoy kite watching; we enjoy people watching! This is a shot I caught one morning at low tide.

Dusk on the beach. Farewell to Florida until next year!
