The Future of Color the Wind
Larry and Kay Day aka Grandma and Grandpa "Kite"

The time has come for Larry and me to retire from Color the Wind.  We are hopeful that someone who shares our enthusiasm for the event will come forward to keep the event alive. At this time, we want to thank all of our faithful sponsors.  We could not have made Color the Wind the success it has been without YOU!  If and when the event finds new organizers, we hope you will continue to provide the same support as you have given us!

Larry and I have lived in this wonderful community since 1969 and wouldn't want to live anywhere else!  Larry came here to teach High School Math that year and continued to teach until he became a Realtor.  He continued in real estate until his retirement in 2013.
I am also retired after working many years, first in real estate, and then as Client Relations Officer for Principal Financial Group.  Yes, we are both retired from our careers, but we certainly haven't retired from LIFE!
We have many interests: Our family, our church (Harvest Bible Chapel) and our many and varied hobbies.   We are so happy that we have been able to give back to our community by presenting Color the Wind every year!  We are especially thankful for all the support we have been given which has enabled us to do this!
We are passionate about the sport of flying kites and we're glad we have found a way to share that passion!  We are hopeful that someone who is also passionate about flying kites and giving back to our community will continue bringing Color the Wind to Clear Lake in the future.

Are you thinking you're too old to start a new hobby!  It's never too late!  Rediscover the child within and go fly a kite!  Larry and I are now 74 and 78 years of age and we are still lovin' it!

Larry at Kites Over Lake Michigan

Kites are great for attracting new friends!  Larry and I love to visit with people and kite flying gives us lots of chances to do so.  However, I often tease Larry and tell him I think he uses the kites as a "chick magnet".
